✍️ TWW #005 Empathy, Taking Care & Schedule

Happy Thursday to 660 fellow writers reading The Writer’s Way!

This is the shorter version, where each Thursday, I share:

  • 1 writing tip

  • 1 personal branding tip

  • 1 systems tip

Sounds like your thingy?

Let’s take a dive 👇

✍️ A Writing Tip

😆 Start with a relatable story

People love when they feel understood.

Even more, when they are being treated like friends or people you trust.

And that’s where some of your favorite writers use this dirty little hack:

They open the piece with an accurate description of a relatable situation.

See?

You don’t always have to open your pieces with philosophical quotes, thought-provoking questions, or crazy-ass statements.

Instead, describe how your day at school was.

Describe the emotions & struggles you fight.

Be vulnerable. Add humor.

Then follow up with actionable stuff & lessons.

People will be hooked.

🤺 A Personal Branding Tip

🪥 Take care of yourself

It’s your personal brand.

Personal brand.

If you don’t grow as a person, then neither your brand does.

Your business/online growth is dependent on seemingly unrelated things like your personal development & your mental state.

So if you feel like you’re not headed in the right direction…

…like you’re falling behind…

…like you’re a total mess with 0 mental clarity…

Ask yourself:

  • Do I sleep properly?

  • Do I drink enough water?

  • Do I have a proper diet?

  • Do I spend time with the right people?

  • Do I consume high-quality content?

  • How can I optimize all of the above?

🛠️ A Systems Tip

🗓️ Put yourself on a schedule

Disappearing for 6 months is a meme.

So let’s start a new trend:

Disappearing for 30 mins.

Not enough to make life-changing progress all at once…but hell enough time if you do it every single day.

In just 30 mins of focused work, you can write a long-form piece of content.

A Twitter Thread.

Batch-write tweets.

And not only that - it feels good to just throw off your phone, say “see ya” to the distracting world, and immerse yourself into your passion.

You spend all day reacting to other people’s priorities.

It’s time to establish your own.

Be a bit selfish, and put yourself on a 30-min schedule just for yourself, your computer & Notion ;)

And...that's it for today!
